Steve Perry's soulful, soaring tenor was the key to transforming Journey from an unknown Prog Rock band to Multi-Platinum Arena Rock Megastars. Now, how can I have Journey Week and not have a post about "The Voice". I find that a little hard to believe, unless this person is the janitor at the studio.Steve Perry sings in the desert.so that's where he's been all this time! I guess hearing is subjective to the listener, but I'm really hoping to see a new album from Steve in the future. I noticed a comment from someone on my YouTube page who said he'd had the chance to hear some of Perry's recent stuff, and said his voice was "nowhere" what it used to be, even with studio effects. Website: Not anything ground breaking here and I truly wish he would stop mentioning stuff like this if he really has no intentions of actually releasing anything, which is what his past behavior indicates.
Perry also told CRM that he has started recording his new solo album but don´t know when it will be released. In a recent interview with Classic Rock Magazine, former Journey singer Steve Perry said he has written 50 new songs, some with a familiar sound, others more contemporary and some that he can´t put a label on. Hollywood wrote:Here is an interesting news item. NOTE TO STEVE PERRY: Stay away from that stuff that cannot be labeled/categorized! That's the same sh!t that got your "Against the Wall" joint shelved. That's as close as you can get to a lead-pipe cinch guarantee in Perry-speak.Īs an aside, I noticed that he mentioned some of the music sounds familiar, some of it sounds contemporary & some of it cannot be labeled. Rather, this time around he says he can "smell" a solo effort, (Danillow, you can go ahead and insert a nose joke here, if you like ). In this interview, Perry doesn't seem to be saying, "I'm thinking about it/I think about it all the time", or "I'm writing". Def could be wrong though.Īs much as it pains me, I have to agree with Deano. I thought it was being held hostage to get him to do another Journey album. Moreover, I DO like the idea that he could and SHOULD throw at the LEAST a 1:30 tease of a song in failry finished song on an actual website at one point or another. I don't recall that being a Steve Perry decision. Yeah, I think I recall there being a Sony management "this won't sell" decision at the last moment or somethng to that effect and it was shelved. Wasn't someone playing politics with that one?ĭonnaplease Stereo LP Posts: 3435 Joined: Mon 11:38 am Location: shenandoah valley If he had anything put up a Steve perry website and put 1 song on it to prove it. He said the same thing for Off The Wall and it never saw the light of day. froy Compact Disc Posts: 7376 Joined: Tue 1:48 am I lay odds of a Perry release this coming year at 2-1. One would think Perry wouldn't tarry in the studio, that he would do his required work as expeditiously as possible. The thing about that, unless he has his own studio, is studio time costs money. If Espee said he is recording, then he is recording. I don't think the guy is bullshit at all. Because now, if nothing materializes in a year or two or even three, then he is all bullshit. For him to actually say to a news source that he "has started recording" is far different. Perry saying something to the effect that he is "practicing scales" or "writing" is one thing.
